Faith in Action
At East Parish UMC, we believe that faith comes alive through service. We offer numerous opportunities for you to turn your faith into action and make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Outreach and Services
1
The Maris Center for Women
The Maris Center for Women is a transitional housing facility for low-income homeless women recovering from addiction. Every second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m., we host a home-cooked dinner for the women at the center. This gathering brings together women from different denominations to prepare and share a meal with those in transition, offering not just food but also hope and companionship. Each woman at the center also receives a lovingly prepared gift bag to welcome them.

Community Yard Sale
Reserves a space for $20
Our parish organizes a community yard sale, providing space for community members to sell their items while building relationships with one another. It’s an opportunity to connect, share, and support each other in practical ways.
Saturday Night Meals
East Parish UMC is happy to co-sponsor the Saturday Night Meals Program alongside Newburyport’s Central Congregational Church and The Pettengill House. Once a month, we prepare, package, and deliver hot meals to needy residents in the greater Newburyport – Salisbury area. Volunteering in this program is a powerful way to serve those in our community who are most in need.

Spiritual Direction
Are you seeking guidance on your spiritual journey? A Spiritual Director might be just what you need. Pastor Milka Gonzalez, a certified Spiritual Director, offers compassionate, heart-centered listening to support you as you navigate the joys and challenges of life.
A Spiritual Director is a person who walks alongside you on your spiritual path, helping you explore your relationship with God, find peace, and embrace the choices you make. Through deep listening and gentle guidance, a Spiritual Director can help you connect more fully with your faith and discover the comfort and strength that come from a closer relationship with the Divine.
We are here to serve you and walk with you on your journey. If you feel called to explore Spiritual Direction, please reach out. Call today to schedule a session with Pastor Gonzalez and take the next step in your spiritual journey.

Weddings
Celebrate Your Love at East Parish United Methodist Church
A Christian wedding is one of the most joyful and sacred rituals, where two people pledge their lives to each other under God’s blessing, embracing the presence of Jesus Christ in their marriage. Far more than just a social event, a Christian wedding is a true worship service—a celebration of love, faith, and commitment. The true beauty of this occasion lies in the spirit and attitude of those who come together to share in it.
East Parish United Methodist Church offers a stunning, historic sanctuary perfect for a traditional church wedding. With a lovely center aisle, classic wooden pews, and a quality organ, our church provides a beautiful setting for your special day. Our sanctuary is also fully accessible, ensuring that all guests, including those using wheelchairs and walkers, can join in your celebration. Plus, the church is conveniently located 2 miles from the beach, facilitating an amazing place for photos and other beauty.
Our Pastor presides over all wedding ceremonies held in our sanctuary, ensuring that your marriage is rooted in faith and guided by love. There is a fee for the use of our facility and for pastoral services, and guest ministers may be invited to participate at the discretion of our Pastor.
If you’re a couple interested in entering into the covenant of Christian marriage, we invite you to contact our Pastor to begin planning your joyous day. Email us at eastparishumc@verizon.net
